John Kiarie Waweru, commonly known as KJ, is a Kenyan politician, comedian, and educator. Born in 1972, he attended Kileleshwa Primary School and Dagoretti High School. He later pursued a Certificate in Information Technology at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology in 1996 and earned a Bachelor of Education from Kenyatta University.

 

Kiarie gained national recognition as a comedian with the group Redykyulass, where he was known for his satirical performances. He also worked as a columnist for Nation Media Group and held positions as an art director at Ogilvy Africa and a communications consultant at Scanad. Additionally, he served as a director at the Youth Agenda and the Athi Water Services Board.

 

In 2017, Kiarie was elected as the Member of Parliament for Dagoretti South Constituency under the Jubilee Party. He was re-elected in 2022 under the United Democratic Alliance (UDA). In Parliament, he has been a member of the Departmental Committee on Communication, Information & Innovation, and the Departmental Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs.

Throughout his career, Kiarie has been recognized for his contributions to Kenyan comedy, media, and politics.
