H.E Benjamin Chesire Cheboi is a Kenyan politician and leader with a significant impact in public service and governance. He is well-known for his contributions to the development of education, infrastructure, and social services in Kenya. Born and raised in the Rift Valley region, Cheboi has dedicated much of his life to serving the people of Baringo County and the country at large.
H.E Benjamin Cheboi grew up in Baringo County, where he experienced the challenges of rural life. His upbringing instilled in him a strong commitment to improving the lives of others. He pursued his education with dedication, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Nairobi and later specializing in Economics and Planning, fields that laid the groundwork for his career in public service.
H.E Cheboi’s career spans both public administration and politics. Before venturing into politics, he held key leadership roles in various institutions, including serving as the Chief Executive Officer of the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), where he was instrumental in streamlining operations and improving access to education financing for Kenyan students.
In 2013, he became the first Governor of Baringo County under Kenya’s devolved system of governance, a position he used to champion development in the region. His tenure was marked by investments in infrastructure, health services, and agriculture, aiming to uplift the livelihoods of the people in his county.
H.E Cheboi continues to be a respected figure in Kenyan politics and governance. His leadership style is characterized by humility, a focus on results, and a passion for community development. He currently serves as the Chairperson of the Security Committee in the Council of Governors, where he works on matters related to governance and security at the county level.
